At the beginning of this year, I set a goal for myself of going to a concert at Red Rocks Amphitheatre, which is located right outside of Denver, Colorado, by the end of the year. I had a couple different shows in mind and was getting ready to decide on one of them, when Griz announced Grizrocks.
It was a dream come true. For two nights over Labor Day Weekend, Griz was going to take over Red Rocks, and to make it even more special, the first night was going to be the debut of his live band. I bought my tickets as soon as they went on sale, and the remaining months went by quick. The next thing I knew, I was in Denver, Colorado attending Grizrocks, and having the time of my life.
While both of the nights were utterly incredible and completely unforgettable, the first night, which was the premiere of Griz’s live band, was my favorite night overall because of the performance that he put on. Standing in the crowd, watching Griz perform on stage, I could tell that he put everything into this performance. All of Griz’s dedication, passion, and love for what he does went into the debut of his live band that night, and it was unreal. Here’s a video of them performing my favorite song, titled ‘Gotta Push On’, off Griz’s most recent album Good Will Prevail.
Griz laid everything he had out on stage that night and I feel so fortunate that I was able to witness it and be a part of that night with him. While this was my 12th time seeing him perform, and I plan on seeing him many more times in the future, this performance will always stand out to me as one of my favorites and will remind me of why I love Griz and his music so much.
